EICRs - ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORTS

The current UK wiring regulations recommend regular safety inspections for all types of electrical installations.

For homes, this should be every 5 years (ref).

An EICR will reveal any problems that may not be evident but that could result in a fire that could devastate your home or business premises. Or hidden faults that could result in a potentially fatal electric shock.

CONSUMER UNIT UPGRADES

Since 2016, the wiring regulations in the UK require all new consumer units in dwellings to be made from non-combustible materials, i.e. metal. This is to provide enhanced fire protection in the event of a fault that starts inside the consumer unit.

It makes sense to upgrade your old fuse box or consumer unit if it does not meet this important new standard.
